Explore a new hobby in this engaging figure drawing class in NYC! This beginner's art class focuses on learning how to draw the full body.
After this class, you will be able to draw the entire figure with a basic understanding of all its different parts and begin the process of drawing the figure within settings and environments.
This class includes a mix of 30-second gestural drawings, 1-minute, 5-minute, and 10-minute poses followed by a final 20-minute pose. Each class will include one model who will be nude during each pose. All phones will be collected at the start of the class and available during breaks.
Instruction topics:
The human figure is represented and perceived as a system of shapes and forms interacting together. Visual materials include preliminary drawings of famous representational figure paintings followed by a demo of drawing figures within a designated space or "setting." There will be an emphasis on the concept of proportions and foreshortening as drawing elements in accurately depicting the body in perspective.
