Nothing is better than spending a Sunday morning cooking and eating. This Indian cooking class in Brooklyn offers a variety of Indian breakfast dishes that will keep you full throughout the day.

In a lot of Asian countries, it is very common to eat rice or rice-based dishes as a breakfast meal. Rice carries a lot of nutrient value, thus both dishes are very healthy and filling. You will learn how to make many of these common Indian breakfast dishes with rice bases, such as Aloo poha, Dosa, Upma semolina.

Aloo poha is a common Indian breakfast dish, it is beaten rice mixed with cauliflowers, onions, and potatoes. Upma semolina is also a rice dish but it is a thick porridge that has a sweet taste to it. It is usually made with cashew, raisin, and onions. Adding the raisins to this dish adds a little excitement due to the sweetness of the raisins. Poori turns hard when it gets cold, however, the potato curry keeps it soft and delicious. Lastly, we have chutney which is a relish that can be served with the kochouri for an extra kick of flavor.

You will be taught everything you need to know about spices (masalas), which is the basis of Indian cooking that will come in handy when we begin to cook. Spices bring out the flavor in each dish and your instructor will teach you how to become a spice expert. You will learn the nuances and secrets, where to get the masalas, and how to keep the aroma intact. After the class, your teacher will email the recipes, so that they will be with you forever.

This class is hands-on, where you will work alongside your expert instructor from start to finish. You will cook from scratch using the best, healthy ingredients, spices, and produce. You will also have the opportunity to mingle, share your cooking experiences, eat together at the end of the class, and have lots of fun.
