What you'll do
If you're feeling creative and looking for crafty things to do in New York City, why not come and learn all about leatherwork with this fun, hands-on class?
A tote bag is the simplest form of all bag designs: a single panel of material is stitched on two sides to create a bag and looped handles are secured on either side. Even if you have never sewed a single thing ever, you can easily design and assemble a leather tote bag that will likely last the rest of your life.
After you choose a large piece of leather in your very best signature color, you cut, punch, hammer, twist, and sew your way to leather tote greatness. You will make a bag that's approximately 13″x11″x5" and your Craftsman Ave guide will show you each step. Then they'll set you free to do the work of creating on your own.
You’ll work with tools of the trade such as mallets, anvils, rivets, and our state-of-the-art Sailrite Sewing Machine.
