Pottery Course: Play in Clay

Get behind the potters wheel or take the sculpture course and start creating with SMAart Gallery and Studio in San Francisco. Over four or six weeks, learn pottery basics and improve your skills in a relaxed and fun environment!

Each week, join us for two and a half hours and have our master potters show you basic wheel throwing techniques before moving on to trimming, bowls, plates, mugs, handles, and glazing - or - will show you hand building and sculpting techniques in the Sculpture course.

This casual pottery course is great for beginner or intermediate potters. Throughout the course, you will also have unlimited access to our studio by appointment from 10 am-9 pm, where you can continue working on your DIY projects.

You will play with a 12-1/2 pound bag of clay, studio tools, glazes, and firing and will complete the course with your very own beautiful designs to take home!

Please note:
Please arrive 10 minutes early so we can start on time. Late arrivals disrupt the flow of the demonstration and won't give you the time you will want to create.

• 12-1/2 pound bag of clay.
• Glazes.
• Firing.
• Unlimited open studio time for the duration of the class.

• Wear clothes and shoes you don't mind getting dirty and bring your creative spirit!
• Bring your own clay tools. Tool kits available for purchase on site.
• You may wish to bring your own apron and hand towel. Apron is available for purchase on site.
• Consider trimming your fingernails for the best experience.

This class series runs over 6 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.
