Mannequin Madness, based in Oakland, Ca is a woman and Black-owned business started by Judi Townsend, a graduate of the University of Southern California. What started as a side hustle in 2001 has grown into a national e-commerce business that sells mannequins and store fixtures.

When she first started the business she was horrified to learn that when retail chains closed or remodeled they would send their unwanted mannequins to the dumpster. So she started offering mannequin recycling services to keep mannequins out of landfills. Soon clients such as Macy's, The Gap, Nike, Nordstrom and Ralph Lauren, starting using her services.

Judi then would resell the used mannequins at discount prices. Makers, artists and crafters starting buying them to use as a canvas for various projects. The Mannequin Madness Pinterst board, which has over 47,000 followers, has examples of all the many creative ways people upcycle mannequins.

The design team at Mannequin Madness strongly believes in the concept of recycle, reduce, reuse and is constantly coming up with ideas on how to use mannequins as functional art.
