4 x 2 hours Class size 1 to 15     label $325

If you've taken our four-week pottery course and want to keep your skills growing then give this NYC ceramics course a go! It's a chance for people who are not beginners, but not quite intermediate to try their hand at the potter's wheel. Experience is required, as this class is recommended for those with the first course under their belt.

You will continue to practice wheel throwing, trimming, and glazing while slowly introducing new techniques and skills for an additional four weeks.

During the first class, we will review wheel throwing basics while introducing new tools, shapes, and sizes. You'll be able to try and try again until you get a piece or two that you like.

In week two, the class will continue to wheel throw in order to gain a little more experience and time spent on the wheel producing forms, while also introducing Neriage- a wheel throwing technique utilizing colored clay that marbles as we wheel throw. We will cap the number of works to five per person total.

During week three, you will have the opportunity to trim the works from week one and two by turning them upside down on the potter's wheel. You will also be able to sponge your work to a smooth finish and further refine your pieces. In this week, you can carve and paint works to change their color.

In the last class, you will glaze your pieces, reviewing different glazing types and techniques. Various colors and surface textures are available. This class is great for those who want to review the basics from their first class, while slowly building up their wheel throwing skills.

If you're interested in honing your skills in a new and relaxing hobby, pottery will allow you to dig your hands into clay, unwind, and create unique handmade ceramic goods!

The work that you create will be ready to be picked up one week after the last class.
