What you'll do
If you're looking for unique ceramics classes in NYC, join this slip-casting workshop and learn how to make your own ceramic bowl. Slip casting is pottery making with liquid clay called slip which is poured into an existing mold.
In this class, you will be given a bowl mold and shown some basic techniques such as painting, dripping and marbling. Choose from a wide range of colors including, white, black, red, pink, blue and more! After you design the outside of your bowl, you will pour slip into the mold to cast the bowl body. Finally, at the end after emptying the mold, you will have the opportunity to marble what will become the inside of your bowl. Your final fired piece will hold about 16 fl oz.
This class is great for total beginners or experienced potters looking to learn a new technique. Slip casting is a fun and easy way to make gorgeous handmade pottery!
Please note, this class deals with casting liquid clay only (slip); your work will dry and be fired for you by our staff and no moldable clay is used.
