What you'll do
Even if you're a total beginner, you can learn how to make two identical cups in just one lesson through this slip casting pottery workshop in NYC! Slip casting is pottery making with liquid clay called slip which is poured into an existing mold.
In this class, you will be given two cup molds and shown how to design using liquid clay slip in a multitude of colors! No two pieces are quite the same, or they can be, it’s all up to you and the sky is the limit as everyone’s design will be different. After designing your cups, you will pour slip into the molds for casting. Your pieces can be picked up after one week. Each cup holds about 8 fl oz.
This is a great and easy way to produce gorgeous pottery as a total beginner! Or, if you're an experienced potter, you can learn a new skill and expand your repertoire with this hands-on workshop!
Please note, this class deals with casting liquid clay only (slip); your work will dry and be fired for you by our staff and not be able to be handled the day of class.

Peter was a fantastic teacher, and thoroughly explained the process and techniques, as well as gave guidance on dos and donts. The studio was clean, bright and airy. This was a great way to learn the basics of slip casting, and to tale some 'me time' after a particularly stressful period at work. I could feel my tension melting away as I lost myself in this workshop, exploring my creative side for a couple of hours. Highly recommend, and can't wait to see my finished peices in a couple of weeks!
