It's flower power time in this embroidery class in Seattle! Learn to embroider flowers in this hands-on embroidery basics workshop with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ.
This two-hour class covers a variety of beginner-friendly embroidery stitches like the satin stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, detached chain stitch, leaf stitch, and French knot. These basic embroidery stitches will set you up to stitch both florals and other embroidery patterns!
With expert instruction, you'll be able to create a variety of different floral embroidery designs by the end of class! These designs can be stitched onto your clothing, linens, and more, to give pop of color to your fabrics.
Our current Covid protocol is that anyone attending an event can email us to let us know they prefer that people wear masks up to 72 hours before the event begins. Your request is anonymous to all the other participants. Attendees will receive an email before the class to let them know if we will be requiring masks to be worn.
About the Instructor:
Melissa Galbraith is the fiber artist behind MCreativeJ. She was born and raised in the desert of Washington state, where her mother instilled a love of making things by hand at an early age. Drawing on her love of nature, Melissa creates whimsical and modern embroidery patterns and kits. She loves sharing how anyone can embroider with her embroidery kits, patterns, and virtual workshops.
Melissa was reintroduced to hand embroidery after finding her desk job monotonous and needing a creative outlet. She loves that embroidery allows her to play with texture and color and is also a portable craft. Along the way, many crafty-minded makers also wanted to learn how to embroider but were daunted by where to start. So Melissa began to share her embroidery knowledge.
Melissa's embroidery kits and patterns make it easy to learn a new craft for makers of all skill levels. She loves seeing makers fall in love with the needle arts and seeing that magical ah-ha moment of learning something new.
