Join this virtual cooking class and learn to master the essentials of Ethiopian cooking from the comfort of your own kitchen! Over two engaging sessions, you’ll be guided step-by-step by an expert instructor as you create flavorful vegetarian dishes and discover the rich culinary traditions of Ethiopia.
In this course you’ll dive into spice blending, crafting your own Berbere from scratch, and learning to use spices from around the globe in Ethiopian vegetarian recipes. You’ll also prepare Chef Laura's own triple aromatic purée, which serves as a flavorful base for your dishes. Tackle the challenge of making Injera, the traditional Ethiopian fermented flatbread. Practice steaming it to perfection and pair it with the dishes you’ve created for a delicious, healthy feast.
This virtual class is perfect for anyone looking to expand their culinary skills and experience a taste of Ethiopian culture from home. With recipes, tips, and live guidance, you’ll end the sessions with newfound confidence, ready to enjoy flavorful, homemade Ethiopian meals anytime.

Menu is 100% vegetarian and gluten-free, and the dishes can be made vegan with slight modifications.
Please Note
This is a 2-part class. The first class is a mini session of 1 hour and the second class is 2 hours in duration.
Session 1: mini session to blend Berbere, create Triple Aromatic Purée and mix the Injera Sponge.
Session 2: main cooking class to make a complete vegetarian meal from scratch with 2 lentil dishes, one mushroom dish, and Injera.

No prior knowledge or skills are required!
Your entire household can join for the price of one ticket.
What to bring
This is a virtual, hands-on class with some preparation required.
You’ll receive a detailed list of ingredients, materials, and prep instructions at least one week before the class. You will also receive some tips on where to source some of the more hard to find ingredients.
No special tools or equipment required. We teach you how to substitute with confidence. A food processor and spice grinder or mortar and pestle are recommended.
Session repeats

After the first session, the next session is: 2-part class. We meet on Thursday, January 30th for 1 hour and Saturday, February 1st for 2 hours..

Suitable for

Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 12 years old).

An adult must accompany any attending kids. The adult may observe at the class for free.

You will ask questions and challenge yourself and walk away with recipes and tools for your culinary tool belt.
Teaching Table classes are intentionally small, intimate learning experiences so that you get hands-on practice and personalized attention. Menus and instruction are tailored to participants’ dietary needs and preferences, cooking skills, and goals.
