After joining this ceramics class in Seattle, you can drink your next cup of coffee in a handmade mug made by you and start your mornings with a little creative inspiration! In this handbuilding workshop, you will use a pre-prepared clay slab to cut, attach, and sculpt your very own mug.
Your class will begin with introductions where your skilled instructor will walk you through handbuilding techniques such as scoring, compressing, attaching, handle design, and surface decoration to help you create something truly unique. Afterward, you will finalize your piece with any last minute details, mark your glazing preferences, and clean up as a group.
If you're looking for fun date ideas or want to test run a new hobby, this ceramics class is a fun and easy way to learn a new skill and take home a functional piece!
The studio will glaze and fire your piece for you. When your creation is ready, we will notify you to come back for pick-up, or we can ship your piece for a small fee. Please allow up to four weeks for your finished piece.

Reclaim Clay Collective (RECC) is the first POC, queer, women-owned art studio located in the thriving cultural heart of Seattle’s Chinatown International district. Founders Siera Matsuo and Luanne Wilson left their biology careers to pursue pottery, and made it their mission to nurture an intentional artistic community that helps make art accessible to underserved communities. We prioritize creating a safe space for our QT and BIPOC community and will not tolerate hate in our space.
RECC offers short-term classes designed to help you explore a new creative hobby or long term interest. As art enthusiasts ourselves, we host classes on various mixed media interests to help further expand your art practice and intrigue. We offer group classes and workshops on the potter’s wheel, handbuilding, Risography printmaking, and more.
In addition to classes and workshops, our studio offers membership access for those who want to continue their creative journey and expand their self-exploration.
We welcome you to join our community!
