If you love coffee, ever wondered about the coffee roasting process, desire access to the freshest coffee, or dream of starting your own coffee business, then this class is perfect for you!
In this introductory coffee roasting class, you will delve into the intricacies of the coffee bean, its sourcing, and the basics of roasting. No prior knowledge of coffee or roasting is necessary; this class is designed for beginners. Not only will you learn how to roast coffee, but you'll also have personalized instruction from your teacher so you can leave with all of your coffee goals met!
Hour 1:
Your instructor will begin with a coffee chat, while you enjoy freshly roasted coffee. You'll learn about your instructor's journey into coffee, its cultivation, various processing methods, and sourcing. Then, we'll delve into the fundamental mechanics of the roasting machine and how the beans evolve during roasting. You will have the opportunity to select your preferred beans from a range of options provided, and then proceed to roast them.
Hour 2:
You will have the chance to operate the roasting machine, either completing a full roast or a partial one based on time and your desire to roast more. Once roasting is finished and while the beans are cooling, we'll dedicate the remainder of the class to personalizing your own 12oz compostable coffee bag using provided Sharpies and rubber stamps (feel free to bring your own pre-made designs!).
The class will conclude with a follow-up Q&A session, offering you the chance to purchase any additional coffee and merchandise Rob has available, should you be interested (with no pressure). If you're certain about wanting something specific, please make sure to message Rob at least 24 hours before the class so he can ensure it's available.

Hello, my name is Rob, the head roaster, sole employee, and owner of Robbeans Coffee, a small batch specialty coffee roastery headquartered in my garage in Glendale, California. The dream for this business was sparked on a coffee farm after roasting on a cast iron pan over an open fire; I fell in love with the process. Since 2019, I have been roasting professionally and now buy beans from that very farm I visited.
I'm truly coffee-obsessed, from bean sourcing to roast profiles, to mastering every brew technique. He wants to share his passion for coffee and roasting and show the world how to start their own roasting operation, either for fun or for future business endeavors.
