What you'll do
If you love the idea of knitting your own blanket to relax under during your sweatpants and couch days, this online knitting class will show you the way.
You will learn how to make a dreamy, thick, and cozy knit blanket out of merino wool roving, plus get tips and techniques for caring for these blankets. No knitting experience required!
Knit and crochet designer Cara Corey will show you how to use a "table knitting" technique, forming the stitches with your hands rather than using knitting needles. You choose the color of yarn in your DIY kit, which is enough wool roving to make a blanket approximately 30x50 inches in size with a lot of stretch. Every stitch is around 3-4 inches tall for an impressive chunky knit blanket!
This is a fun beginner knitting class and great for anyone who loves working with their hands.
Other skills you will learn:
- How to source wool roving for a good price
- How to graft ends together by needle felting
- How to adjust the pattern to make bigger blankets or different dimensions
- How to care for the wool and use felting to prevent it from fuzzing too much
Please Note
If you would like the undyed/cream-colored yarn in your kit, please sign up 2 weeks before class to allow for ordering and shipping the wool. If you would like a dyed color, please sign up at least 3 weeks before class.
