What you'll do
Mellow out and make your own meditative mandalas! In this laser cutting class in Austin, you will learn how to create a mandala design in Adobe Illustrator, which you will then laser cut into a beautiful decorative piece with the help of our talented designers and shop attendants.
These wooden mandalas are designed to be colored - a fun activity that brings out your inner artist while calming the mind. Mandalas can be used as tabletop centerpieces or mounted on walls; we will provide jigs, mounting brackets and instructions as needed.
MakeATX is a beautiful laser cutting studio located in downtown Austin, just two blocks east of I35. Our studio is nestled near the food trucks at Arbor Food Park. Hot tea, sparkling water, and relaxing music provided by MakeATX. BYOB optional.

What to bring
BYOB welcome. Feel free to bring black and white mandala sketches and design ideas if you have them. Paint, brushes, coloring supplies, wood, and design tools are provided by MakeATX.

MakeATX is a laser cutting studio in the heart of East Austin which was founded in 2010 by makers-in-chief Eve Trester-Wilson and Kristen von Minden—friends who share a background in architecture, a taste for power tools, and a passion for crafting. We believe that handmade things carry more meaning. They are special, unique, imbued with traces of the human hand, and they bring with them a sense of wonder and joy. That’s why we make our living making things. Our mission has always been to create a compelling space and foster the creative spirits of others, which is why we have always taught classes and are excited to expand our offerings. We believe in banding together to support one another and share ideas and inspiration within our community.
