Lauren McCabe Herpich – Owner

Lauren started her tour guide “career” as a campus tour guide during her undergraduate days at the University of Arizona. While she loved walking backwards, Lauren never thought she would be a professional tour guide, never mind the owner of two tour companies. But when Lauren and her husband landed in Oakland’s Rockridge neighborhood, she quickly got to know the many businesses and restaurants who would greet her with their yummy foods. Inspired by some friends’ recent excursion on a food tour in San Francisco, her husband Chris said, “you loved giving tours so much in Chicago and you love our new neighborhood, why not start a tour in Rockridge?” Why not indeed! Lauren started the Rockridge Food Tour in June 2014, six months before becoming pregnant with their son.

Fast forward to 2020 when COVID shut down her in-person tours, Lauren immediately pivoted to Local Love Gift Boxes to continue spreading the local flavors of her community and then added virtual events. Local Food Adventures has won Best Virtual Experiences awards and now host thousands of US guests each year from companies such as Google, Netflix, Levi's, Genentech and the Oakland Athletics.
