What you'll do

It’s Tiki Time!! Join Local Food Adventures for a one-hour cocktail making party sure to create great memories.

Your online adventure is sprinkled with steel drum music and tons of tropical concoction history, including the story of the original bar aficionado who is credited with creating the original Mai Tai!

Using ingredients found in our Mai Tai Cocktail Party in a Box shipped directly to each guest, you’ll be whisked to the tropics as we make Mai Tai cocktails together using a recipe that Trader Vic would approve. That includes also making our own Demerara syrup, an essential ingredient in an authentic Mai Tai. Guests also learn how to make a non-alcoholic mocktail version and other tropic drinks that will take you on a mental vacation.

So, put on your Hawaiian shirts, get your ingredients, and let’s have a tropical party that helps us escape reality for just a bit.

Lauren McCabe Herpich – Owner

Lauren started her tour guide “career” as a campus tour guide during her undergraduate days at the University of Arizona. While she loved walking backwards, Lauren never thought she would be a professional tour guide, never mind the owner of two tour companies. But when Lauren and her husband landed in Oakland’s Rockridge neighborhood, she quickly got to know the many businesses and restaurants who would greet her with their yummy foods. Inspired by some friends’ recent excursion on a food tour in San Francisco, her husband Chris said, “you loved giving tours so much in Chicago and you love our new neighborhood, why not start a tour in Rockridge?” Why not indeed! Lauren started the Rockridge Food Tour in June 2014, six months before becoming pregnant with their son.

Fast forward to 2020 when COVID shut down her in-person tours, Lauren immediately pivoted to Local Love Gift Boxes to continue spreading the local flavors of her community and then added virtual events. Local Food Adventures has won Best Virtual Experiences awards and now host thousands of US guests each year from companies such as Google, Netflix, Levi's, Genentech and the Oakland Athletics.
