Join this hands-on course and dive into different processes and techniques for making paper!
Beginning with recycled paper and ending with traditional Washi paper, this six week course will introduce you to multiple approaches to the ancient art form of papermaking.
Cornish’s printmaking studio houses a rare Washi Papermaking tool - the only one in Seattle. Learn from Brad Taylor, master printmaker and the printmaking studio technician through this rare opportunity.
By the end of the course, you can take home a paper-based project, as well as new papermaking skills!
What you'll learn:
  • Techniques for creating and refining pulp from various materials.
  • Methods for forming sheets of paper using traditional and modern techniques.
  • Techniques for adding textures and colors to paper during the creation process.
  • Applying decorative elements like marbling, embossing, and printing on paper.
  • Basic principles and techniques for preserving and repairing paper.
  • Combining paper-making with printmaking techniques, such as etching or screen printing.
  • Developing artistic concepts and translating them into paper-based projects.
