Learn to create your own stone sculptures in this groundbreaking stone carving workshop in Bedford! In this one-day workshop, you will have the opportunity to explore the art of stone carving, which might not be accessible on your own!

For beginners and experienced sculptors alike, your instructor will guide you through the process of looking into the rock for imagery, carving into material, planning and forming a sculpture and using tools.

Your instructor will demonstrate hand-carving techniques and share stone carving lore. You will also learn studio safety and where to source stone carving tools, which will set you up with the basics to continue exploring the craft after your workshop.

Your teacher

Scott Cahaly Graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in fine arts in the late 90s. Upon graduation he moved into the carving community in Central Vermont. While working as a resident sculptor at the Vermont Marble Exhibit, he carved a 5000 pound block of Vermont Marble which can be seen in front of the Armory Art Center in Somerville MA. In 2000 Scott relocated to the Boston area where he started exhibiting his work in many galleries and universities around town. He is a member of The New England Sculptors Association and has been teaching stone sculpture for just over two decades! First at the Decordova Museum School, then in 2010 he founded Scott's Stone Carving Classes which now resides in the renovated Depot Train Station in Bedford MA. His teaching approach is well regarded and he seeks to unlock his students fascination for the stone carving process."
