I've been curious about kintsugi for a while, so I was excited to take this class. Ryley was an excellent instructor, clearly demonstrating the steps of kintsugi, encouraging and assisting when we did it ourselves, and trouble-shooting our problems as they arose. I also enjoyed his discussion of wabi, which was more philosophical than the usual explanations which focus purely on aesthetics. It was my first attempt at kintsugi repair, and though it's definitely a craft that requires a lot of practice, I felt encouraged and excited to continue to learn more about it. Ryley's class was a great introduction!

I am very thankful to the teacher, he made the workshop experience unique: sharing with us students not only his knowledge in kintsugi making but also transforming the class to a wholesome "zen" experience by sharing his extensive knowledge of philosophy, Japanese culture, and providing green tea for us.

I would have liked more guidance from the teacher on the practice and my progress, than discussions in theology.

I really enjoyed the process and it was great that everything was provided. It was so nice to just be able to show up and enjoy. Reilly was great! Really nice guy who was able to create a sense of community out of 3 rooms full of strangers in a very short time. I also really liked the generous amount of time allotted for the class and the pacing. There was never a sense of rushing to move along or wrap things up. It was a really lovely way to spend an afternoon.

It was part of our company's DTC team building.

Ryley was kind, through, well prepared and easy to communicate.

Materials were great although it would have been better if price sticker was removed before hand. Once we start the process, it was impossible to remove and it did not look great on the cup.

We learned about wabi-sabi and questions asked were all interesting. It would have been even better if the art of kintsugi was explained little more (although pre-read was provided)Also trying to concentrate on work, and trying to find answers to those deep questions were quite hard to maneuver at the same time. Maybe ask few questions at the beginning and ask for answers little later?

The cup breaking part was surprisingly refreshing and fun. Think team loved it, too. But of course, the most fun part was applying gold touch.

Ryley was an excellent teacher who made the subject of kintsugi/wabi-sabi approachable and fun. Not only was I taught the practical skill of gold lacquering but he also took the time to teach us the ethos and philosophy of wabi-sabi. Everything was provided to effectively learn kintsugi, and he also allowed us to repair a personal ceramic if we cared to. The class size was appropriate (about 20 people), and all things considered I would say it was priced appropriately. The venue itself (The SF Zen Center) was a beautiful space with ample room, good lighting, and a calming, zen aesthetic. I would recommend this class to friends interested in the craft!

Host was amazing - super knowledgeable, kind, and patient teacher. I hope I get to work with him on kintsuge again! The workshop was definitely worth the money and I had a great time chatting and getting to know other people in the workshop as well.

Really enjoyed my class with Ryley. He's clearly dedicated to the craft and teaches its basic principles well while engaging the class in the philosophy behind wabisabi.

The only constructive feedback I have is to recommend bringing a new N95 mask for the polishing part. Everyone is polishing and some people have a lot of edges to sand down, so there's a lot of it floating around.

A great class with a great group of people! The teacher did a great job of showing us the process and sharing philosophy.

The course is very good and Ryley walks you through all the steps.
I'm just sorry that because of the noise we were making we couldn't hear him well when he was explaining the ideologies associated with Kinstugi. I'm sorry because it was very interesting.

This class provided an enjoyable experience and a valuable opportunity to explore the art of impermanence. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to tap into their creative side while engaging in meaningful self-reflection.

My daughter (12yo) and I took this class. The instructions were clear and he did a great job pacing the steps to give us enough time to do each thing. I enjoyed the lesson on the technique and the ties into mindfulness. The space and materials were excellent. Look forward to returning for another class with friends soon.

Ryley was a great teacher and shared so much with us. This class is great if you want to get out of your head and just enjoy the passing of time while you work on a really intricate and wonderful piece.
