What you'll do

Escape the everyday and immerse yourself in the calming world of terrarium building. Your teacher can travel to you in Central Jersey and the NYC area! This mindful workshop offers a unique opportunity to unwind, connect with nature, and tap into your inner creativity. Learn the principles behind these self-sustaining miniature gardens as you carefully select your plants and hardscape.

Let's embark on a whimsical journey to craft our terrariums into tiny, enchanting slices of the great outdoors! We're keeping it real in this terrarium workshop. Our magical mini-worlds will be created using nothing but the treasures Mother Nature herself has to offer.

Our expert instructor will guide you through every step, offering tips for success and ensuring you leave with a beautiful terrarium to nurture and a newfound sense of tranquility. As a relaxing hands-on group activity, this workshop is designed to foster mindfulness and a deep appreciation for the wonders of the natural world.

Please Note:
There may be a travel fee ranging from $35-$100, which will be assessed per class and discussed before booking. The price is dependent on location, group size, and parking fees.

Knowledge required

Beginner-friendly. We'll teach you everything you need to know. We will bring all needed supplies, including the plants and hardscape.

What you'll get

A completed glass bowl terrarium with substrate, plants, and hardscape (rocks and/or driftwood). An acrylic lid (optional) for the glass bowl.

What to bring

Your curiosity and creativity.
You'll need to provide a space with table(s) to work on for building the terrariums.
You may want to cover your work surface for easy clean-up.

Suitable for

This class is great for a team building activity, birthday or bachelorette party.

Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 12 years old).

An adult must accompany any attending kids, and must pay for a separate ticket.

This would also be a lovely gift for her, gift for mom, anniversary gift or birthday gift.

Nature Behind Glass

Hi - I'm Hock, the founder of Nature Behind Glass. I'm excited to bring you my experience and knowledge to help you build mini terrariums so that you can bring a slice of nature into your home or office.

Like many people, I started building up my houseplant collection during the pandemic. But aside from terrestrial plants, I am also an aquarist and aquascaper interested in creating living works of art using aquatic plants. Terrariums became the natural intersection between aquatic and terrestrial plants.

By experimenting with different aquatic plants that are able to grow above water and combining them with the more traditional terrarium plants and mosses, I began to expand the “palette” with which I can build these wonderful displays of nature. And thus, Nature Behind Glass was born.
