What you'll do

Calling all craft cocktail enthusiasts, if you want to learn the science behind craft cocktails, this mixology workshop in Orange County is just what you need. You will learn all of the intricacies of spirits and cocktails to help build a foundation for delicious cocktail creations for the rest of your lives!

The class will be split into two portions. In portion one, your instructor will go over what makes something a cocktail, how to balance a drink, when to swap which parts of a drink, and how to make it your own. During this time, you take notes in your provided notebook so when you go home you'll retain all the information went over in class! You will also learn cocktail history, to understand why the United States is behind in the cocktail scene compared to other countries, and how we can start catching back up! (Hint: it's by creating balanced cocktails!!)

Portion two will be when the fun really starts! Your instructor will pair everyone up, and tools will be passed out. Next, you will do three rounds of hands-on cocktail creation, with each round consisting of two drinks, helping us compare classics to each other. Each person will make one of the two cocktails, which will be split between themselves so the paired students can taste half of both cocktails.

No fake syrups or store bought juices ever! Everything used will be handmade and squeezed to ensure the perfectly balanced, delicious cocktail. This portion will be more lax, allowing mingling and drinking between guests while your instructor helps you individually perfect the technique of your cocktail recipe.

By the end of the class, everyone will be leaving with the knowledge necessary to be a mixologist, and more happy and buzzed than when they came in. You'll leave with a wealth of knowledge on how to make cocktails from your experienced and enthusiastic instructor, and hopefully feel inspired by these new skills!

*Classes Range from 3 to 4 hours, depending on class size. If you need your instructor to host in LA or Orange County we can talk about making something happen!! If less than 4 are signed up for a date, we will have to reschedule unfortunately, but your instructor will always reach out to try to make whatever we can work, work!*

Hello cocktail enthusiasts! My name is Chris Serrano, I've been in the craft cocktail industry for 14 years now, working at some very upscale craft bars and restaurants.

Learning at Chianina Steakhouse starting in 2011 (Zagat rated #4 Steakhouse in the country 2015), under the tutelage of Brad Fry, United States chosen mixologist for World Class 2010 (the world's prestigious bar competition, one person per country per year is chosen to compete by the judges). Having been so many places between then and now, most recently Bar Manager at Nostalgia Bar and Lounge in Santa Monica, where I trained staff, made menu, and ran the bar program to a Timeout Magazine ranked 3rd Best New Cocktail Bar in all of LA County after only 8 months of being open. This is where I learned my true love of not only making drinks, but teaching people along the way!

My goal with these classes is to share with you the science behind why cocktails come out and taste the way they do. A few hours with me and you'll understand drinks better than 95% of bartenders in your city, and will forever want to host parties to show off!
