What you'll do
Ceramics courses are in high demand, but with this workshop in Oakland, your instructor, Antonia will come to you! You'll receive the same hands-on experience in the comfort of your own space!
In this two-session workshop, you will learn how to hand-build pottery pieces with B-MIX clay. This type of clay will need to be fired in a ceramic studio, but your instructor will do that for you!
In the first session, you will learn basic hand-building techniques such as coiling, pinch pulling and rolling slabs. You will be responsible for storing your pieces until the next session. In the second class, you will learn how to use underglazes to bring your work to life.
In both sessions, you can expect a 15 minute demonstration, 1 hour and 45 minutes to create and 30 minutes to clean up! All materials will be provided by your instructor.
If you're looking for cozy and creative indoor activities or a fun party idea, this creative course will allow you to create a handmade item from start to finish!
Once you complete your underglazing, Antonia will fire their pieces. You can expect your finished/fired work 2-3 weeks after the second session. Cost of firing is included in the ticket price.

Your teacher
Antonia is a Chilean interdisciplinary artist. She focuses her work on story telling and the healing nature of art. Antonia was born in Santiago, Chile and immigrated with her family to Mobile, Alabama at the age of two. She moved back to the motherland as a teenager and lived in Vina del Mar, Chile until she graduated as a designer. From 2017-2021, she worked as a design educator in Providence, Rhode Island throughout middle schools and high schools from the Providence Public School District. She continued her work as an educator in Oakland, California, until May of 2023.
Antonia connects her work to healing due to the value that it has brought into her life. She sees exploring mediums and dedicating time into her crafts as a spaces where curiosity and play are welcome. She currently shares her knowledge with others through workshops, throughout the Bay Area as well as virtually.
