Learn the skills to create your own macrame coasters during this macrame workshop in Oakland! Enjoy a relaxing day learning something new and take home beautiful handmade coasters ready to adorn your coffee table!

During this class, your instructor, Antonia, will teach you the skills to create custom-sized, beautiful macrame coasters. You will learn to tie macrame knots (larks and double half hitch) to create your pieces. This workshop does not require previous knowledge of macrame. If you are looking for inspiration and the skills to make personalized gifts for family and friends, or if you want to engage in a relaxing hobby that brings you joy, this class is for you!

You will leave with your own handmade macrame coasters and basic macrame skills to get started on a new hobby! All macrame materials will be provided by the workshop host all you need to do is show up with an open mind ready to create.

Antonia is a Chilean interdisciplinary artist. She focuses her work on story telling and the healing nature of art. Antonia was born in Santiago, Chile and immigrated with her family to Mobile, Alabama at the age of two. She moved back to the motherland as a teenager and lived in Vina del Mar, Chile until she graduated as a designer. From 2017-2021, she worked as a design educator in Providence, Rhode Island throughout middle schools and high schools from the Providence Public School District. She continued her work as an educator in Oakland, California, until May of 2023.
Antonia connects her work to healing due to the value that it has brought into her life. She sees exploring mediums and dedicating time into her crafts as a spaces where curiosity and play are welcome. She currently shares her knowledge with others through workshops, throughout the Bay Area as well as virtually.
