What you'll do
If you want to enjoy your handmade soap quickly, learn how to make hot process soap in this soap-making class in the Upper West Side! Hot process soap making requires very little cure time - a few days to a week at the most, depending on the recipe. This is a brand new class, inspired by requests from our students!
The benefits of hot process soap making (a cooked method) over cold process are the lower cure time, control of which oils and butters are superfatted, the ability to add tricky ingredients that are problematic in cold process, and more.
What is hot process soap making? Hot process soaps are made using a method that involves making soap from scratch by combining a lye mixture with oils and butters. The soap mixture is heated, usually in a crockpot, to speed up the saponification process.
In this class, you will learn the process from start to finish. There is no experience required, so even if this is your first soap making class, you can still find success!
You will receive an information-packed class handout with instructions, recipes, and a valuable supplier list and, of course, get to take home soap! We will make two batches of hot process soap with different techniques.
