Whenever I sat in my mom's kitchen growing up, she’d make dumplings while sharing memories of her own mom and grandma. I soon realized my generation was missing something important: the handmade techniques and traditions passed down through the ages. She went on to open a Chinese restaurant with my dad, where I was raised and where I learned how to make dishes featured in this class!

I'm passionate about food, cooking, and experiences, and can't wait to share with you. I’ve trained at French and Italian cooking schools, as well as locally with Chef Olivia Wu, who I’ve partnered with to teach her “Ultimate Umami” course in Half Moon Bay.

The instructor was so well-prepared, encouraging, clear and kind throughout the class. It was clear that he took a lot of care to design the class and give us the best experience possible by buying fresh, organic produce and meats from local markets for our shared cooking experience and meal - the quality of the food was incredible and well worth the cost of the class and the good vibes were an added bonus. We learned how to make dumpling dough, shape and cook dumplings in a hands-on approach, as well as create our our sauces and delve into variations of soy sauce and umami flavor. I appreciated how generous the instructor was in sharing his home space, knowledge and encouragement to make connections to food sources/flavors/histories through this one class. I can't wait to practice more at home and share what we learned with others.

Wow! I am so glad that I took this dumpling dinner party class with my partner as an anniversary gift. The whole night was so well planned and timed out that we were never rushed nor waiting around. Eddie created a warm and welcoming environment, was extremely clear with his instruction, and provided really useful feedback. We learned things that no online recipe could have provided. Above all, the food was extremely delicious. As nerds, we also greatly appreciated all of the additional information that Eddie shared about soy sauce, umami, and mixing flavors. We took Eddie's class as part of an arts & culture immersion National Art Honor Society high school field trip to San Francisco partly to partake in the end of the Chinese New Year final celebrations. We got this experience as a gift from my wife, and my two teens and I had an absolutely wonderful time! Eddie was the perfect host and the time just flew by with him sharing the history of the food we were making and the wonderful conversation from the other guests!

We learned about how different types of soy sauces are made, and then we did a blind taste-test different soy sauces and it's amazing how they impact the deliciousness (umami) and the overall flavor of the dumplings.

I couldn't believe how much we learned and I'm fully confident now that we can make these dumplings in the future!

This class and the experience makes a wonderful gift for a loved one!

Incredible experience and very informative. I learned so much about soy sauce, sourcing good ingredients, and dumpling techniques. I had made dumplings before with friends and didn’t think I would learn much but boy was I wrong. Eddie has a wealth of information. He explained and gave us attention in what felt like an intimate 1:1 setting despite 8 people being there. He also provided extra food in addition to the dumplings which he cooked himself. 10/10, amazing! You must do this if you’re considering. Just book it Amazing date night experience.

My fiancé and I spent a week in San Francisco and Napa Valley for our first extended vacation. I wanted to surprise her with a cooking class and found Chef Eddie's dumpling class. One of the few times I can actually walk away from something like this and say that i have no suggestions on how to improve the class. The setting was perfect for that size class and very intimate. I was surprised when we got to the location, and realized that we were actually meeting at Chef Eddie's residence and that the size of the class was limited to six people. He made us feel very comfortable and welcome. The actual class itself was perfect as well. You get to know the other participants - and with Chef Eddie's outgoing manner that is constructive and supportive, no matter what your skills. My abilities left something to be desired at first. By the end of the cooking time, I was much more comfortable and now ready to take it on with my fiancé and others when we are home. From the understanding of the ingredients to the techniques, everything was done very well. And Chef Eddie's patiencewow! Especially with technique. We were highly appreciative of his graciousness and humor in dealing with those (me again) who are pleating challenged. The evening was topped off by Chef Eddie's own creation that he brought to the table - Soy Sauce Braised Pork Belly. An amazing creation! The day after the class, we received an email with all of the recipes, technique summaries, suggestions on various ingredients and where to get them, and other great tips and tricks. I'm ready to go shopping when I get home. We could not have been more pleased with our experience.

Anyone can post a cooking class online, but actually having the skills to teach as well as solid culinary technique can be hard to come by. Eddie has both. My class ran smoothly from start to finish. As Eddie taught, he would work his way around from student to student ensuring everyone was making progress and giving tips, pointers and lots of encouragement. The studio place was well appointed and spotlessly clean. I'm pretty experienced in the kitchen and have some professional training, but still came away with great information and new insights. The food was delicious, artfully prepared and well presented. All of the other 5 star reviews on this instructor are spot on. Eddie's attention to preparation and every small detail makes the class seem effortless. Take this class. It's worth the time and money. Lastly, be prepared to have a fully stuffed belly by the time you leave.

Dumpling Dinner Party with Eddie was honestly one of the best cooking classes I've taken. There were only 5 of us which meant we got individual attention, as compared to some classes which have 15-20 people. Eddie is such a great teacher - he explains everything step by step, explaining the reasoning for each step, and knows exactly how to critique you and help you. I always thought dumplings were so difficult, but I feel very confident after Eddie's class. I really enjoyed the taste testing of the different soy sauces and learning about how they are made and how those differences affect the taste. The pork belly and the tang yuan he cooked were the best I've ever had. Eddie himself is so kind and has so much experience and knowledge, I really enjoyed chatting to him and learning from him. He made us feel so welcome in his home. I highly recommend this class!

The organization of the entire course from beginning to end was really well put together. I personally preferred this over cooking in a a kitchen studio because it's a lot more intimate. So if you have a group of 10 or less, I high recommend doing this versus other studio options!

This cooking class was awesome! I've been trying to learn how to pleat dumplings for a while without too much success, but Eddie broke it down in a way that was super simple and fool-proof. He was also very accommodating in providing vegan versions of everything. The food ended up tasting delicious!

The best cooking class I have ever taken! Not only because we learned so many new things, but also because Eddie was the perfect host and teacher. He used very high quality ingredients and was mindful of allergies/dietary restrictions. The final meal was delicious and it was very cosy to sit down in his beautiful apartment and share the meal together. Already making a shopping list to make my own dumpling party!

Eddie was absolutely fantastic! We had an incredible time learning how to properly make dumpling skins and then fill and fold them (turns out my sister is a pleating queen!). It was fun for the whole family and we were active and hands-on the whole class. We spent the rest of the day talking about how much fun we had and how perfect of an activity it was.

My parents have been inspired to make their own dumplings from scratch :)

Highly recommend if you're looking for something fun and interactive to do in SF - Eddie's the best!

Eddie is absolutely incredible. I booked five dumpling parties for a set of smaller group events on behalf of my company, and our employees had such a fabulous time. Eddie was kind, easy to work with, and communicative. Our company happened to be working through a backbreaking sprint at the time of these parties, and this experience was the respite that everyone needed (including myself!). I cannot say enough great things about Eddie and this experience. This experience worked well as a set of smaller group experiences for employees, but of course it would be incredible to do with friends and family. If you love eating dumplings, this is the class for you. Eddie takes you step by step in the journey to making delicious, mouthwateringly good dumplings. From the explaining how each ingredient and step of the process contributes to the flavor and texture of creating the dumpling to experimenting with combining ingredients to make your favorite dipping sauce. Eddie demystifies the entire process and provides constant hands on support and encouragement and is a fantastic and very passionate, energetic teacher and host. Take his class before the world discovers his talents, is offered his own cooking TV show, gets famous, and has to stop teaching this class.

Eddie is phenomenal! An amazing event and well worth every penny. Eddie is a great teacher - very helpful and kind. It’s apparent how much Eddie cares about not only putting on a great event, but also genuinely taking the time to teach in the group, along with spending time with each individual. Such a fun class Eddie was a terrific host and a natural instructor. He taught us every part of the dumpling making process in a way that was super easy to understand and they turned out deliciously. This even included making and rolling out the dumpling skins from scratch which we were really interested in doing when looking for classes like this. I highly recommend taking this class, it’s fun and a good value for everything you learn. Plus the meal at the end is super satisfying!

We had a fantastic time at this class! Eddie was so kind and welcoming and was an excellent host as well as teacher. He started us out talking about flavors and trying some different soy sauces while one of the dishes got started. Then we started the dumpling making and he made sure everyone had a great view of his demonstration and helped out individually as well. He even had a plan for us to practice the assembly a bit first without wasting dough so we could get a feel for it. His timings were very well planned too, so there was almost no gap time waiting for things to cook.
Our class had both experienced cooks and people who don't cook much, and it was great for everyone!
