Terrarium Workshop: Sip and Plant
Came here with my BFF as a birthday gift and it was great! Loved that the terrarium glass was large and of good quality. The kit had everything we needed and there was a decent variety of plants to choose from at our table. I really appreciated that they had a snack and drinks table (was not expecting that!) and the hosts were very friendly and patient. Paper Marbling Art Class
Leah was very informative. She gave a brief history on paper marbling as an art form. She told us about two forms of paper marbling and the one we were doing: suminagashi. Sumingashi is the easiest as it only requires ink and water. She showed us examples of her paper marbling art. She is very creative. I like the venue as it breathed crafting & art. I purchased the class as a birthday gift for a friend. We both enjoyed the class. We learned how to do sumanigashi or Japanese ink paper marbling. I like how easy it was to create marbled pieces. I like how it doesn't require that many materials to continue doing it. I would definited do another class with Leah. I'm looking forward to doing arts/crafts classes through ClassBento. + more

Make Your Own Ring at Home
This class was great! I really enjoyed the instruction and tips from Jo. This is a fun way to craft a gift for yourself or someone else. The kit comes with a file and two wax rings. You can work out your design with the first ring and then have a second to make it better. Or make two rings (there would be an additional cost to have two rings cast. The course fee covers the cost of casting one silverThis class was great! I really enjoyed the instruction and tips from Jo. This is a fun way to craft a gift for yourself or someone else. If you have other small tools around the house you can also use those to sculpt the ring. I happen to have some small files and clay carving tools and they worked for this ring project as well. I recommend watching their videos before you get into the class so that you have the basic idea of what you will be doing before you try to do it. I continued to work on my design after the class had ended and will now try to perfect it on the second wax ring before I return it to be cast. It was fun to see Pippi the cat make an appearance. I would recommend giving this a try and will probably do this again myself. + more

Cooking Class: Dumpling Dinner Party
We got this experience as a gift from my wife, and my two teens and I had an absolutely wonderful time! Eddie was the perfect host and the time just flew by with him sharing the history of the food we were making and the wonderful conversation from the other guests!
We learned about how different types of soy sauces are made, and then we did a blind taste-test different soy sauces and it's amazing how they impact the deliciousness (umami) and the overall flavor of the dumplings.

She’s insightful, knowledgeable and so encouraging throughout the entire process. The studio is well organized and clean. She had everything that you needed and showed us where everything was and what the uses were. We really enjoyed the free time we got to experiment. If we needed any help or had questions, she was always there and ready to answer. We really had a lot of fun!

This is a no-nonsense class where you really learn by doing. There's a quick hello and then you're geared up and pounding on molten pieces of rebar like you're a Viking blacksmith forging a sword. After hammering, shaping, quenching, grinding, and weaving, four hours later you leave the workshop with a knifeThis is a GREAT time.

This was my first ClassBento and it was a great time for me and my youth (15 yr old). Moonshot Studio is located in downtown Noe Valley so parking may be a little tricky but we just parked a little further away and walked in. Our instructor (and owner) was Teresa and she was so sweet, enthusiastic, and informative. It look about 1.5 hours for us to complete our candle-making activity, which is a bit longer than the class was supposed to take but Teresa didn't rush us at all. Once completed, Teresa asked us to either return in 90 mins to pick upThis was my first ClassBento and it was a great time for me and my youth (15 yr old). She started out with a few slides with information on perfume structure and scent categorization then quickly pivoted to passing around and smelling scent samples from their collection. We smelled a dizzying number of scents (I had to re-up on the mimosa 1/2 way through) as Michelle explained how each was derived/extracted; its characteristicsContext: workshop gifted to me by my partner because she knows I like to swing by cologne counters and check out offerings. She started out with a few slides with information on perfume structure and scent categorization then quickly pivoted to passing around and smelling scent samples from their collection. We smelled a dizzying number of scents (I had to re-up on the mimosa 1/2 way through) as Michelle explained how each was derived/extracted; its characteristics and behavior in relation to other scents; and common pairings/combinations. If we liked the scent we dipped our tester strip into the sample and kept it at our workstation.
The next step was to use our sample strips to come up with a combination we liked and create our own perfume. I appreciated her encouragement for creativity and intuition on our part during this process as much as she was willing to make suggestions when asked to do so by one of my fellow workshop mates.
My group was small (7 total), diverse, friendly and engaged; overall, a very relaxed, friendly atmosphere that Saturday morning. Our workshop leader, Michelle, provided tons of information but avoided lecturing, listened intently to and provided answers to questions throughout the workshop. I had a great time immersed in smelling and designing. It reminded me of wine tasting where you set aside time to compare and explore with one of your senses--but here you walk away with your own creation! If you're at all curious or interested in scents, perfumes, colognes, I highly recommend this workshop. + more
