Ikebana Class: Fun Beginner Lesson

Learn the art of Japanese flower arranging in NYC!

1 hour Class size 1 to 10 (public classes), 1 to 15

label $90 - $117 ($90 for Public, $117 for Private)

Join us for an afternoon of relaxing and learning the Japanese art of Ikebana in this workshop in NYC. In this beginner's class, you will get a taste of Ikebana, or flower arranging, and have the opportunity to create your own Ikebana arrangement to take home, or give as a gift.

Translating roughly to "making flowers come alive, " Ikebana is a centuries-old Japanese art form that creates artistic sculptures out of nature. In this beginners lesson, our experienced instructor will provide assistance as you create an Ikebana arrangement with your own personal flair. This process is approachable and easy to understand. We provide all of the materials you will need, so you can simply relax and invite Zen-like energy into your experience.

This Beginner Lesson is distinct from our other offerings because it is the most simple introduction to Ikebana. It focuses on your creative flow than the theory of the art form. This session is perfect for anyone who is interested in trying out Ikebana in a fun small group session, or for anyone who simply wants to spend an afternoon creating something beautiful.

Junko Miura is a license Ikebana Master from the Ikenobo-Seigetsu school, the oldest and most traditional lineage in Japan. She dedicated over a decade of formal training to learning Ikebana; however, she has studied the art form for as long as she can remember, since her mother was an Ikebana Master as well.

Using her training in the ancient discipline, as well as her other work experience as an international designer, Junko developed Jun Fusion— a more evolved and artistic form of flower arrangement born from her personal creative vision.

Junko’s award winning creations based on her Jun Fusion method, as well as her extensive training in the ancient, traditional approaches, have made her one of New York’s most sought after artists of flower arrangements.

Junko has the honor of offering her creations to the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations, diplomatic ceremonies at the embassies, museums, galleries, high-end retail stores, and other public and private spaces. She also holds a teaching position at the New York Botanical Garden.
