If you love nature, head to this Bay Area workshop to experience a special way of connecting with all things green and explore other natural colors too!
During this fun hands-on textile art class in Mill Valley, you will learn the ancient method of extracting dyes from locally foraged plants and how to use them to dye a beautiful scarf.
This workshop is a creative way to discover where colors came from before the use of chemical dyes and a unique way to connect to nature. You will get a high-quality wool or silk scarf and up to 20 traditional plant and insect dyes to work with to make your project.
Don't worry if you don't have any experience working with textiles or dyes, as your friendly and highly experienced teacher will be on-hand to help you every step of the way. The activities take place outdoors in a peaceful garden area, where you can enjoy a feeling of tranquility as you connect with nature. There are canopy tents to protect you in rainy weather.
If you are looking for fun things to do in San Francisco, this fiber art class is a creative way to spend time outside. When your class is done you will have a personalized natural dye scarf to cherish or give as a unique gift to someone special.

Show map   I taught both children and adults in textile crafts and art for almost thirty years in Finland and trained teachers in that field at the University of Helsinki. Since moving to California four years ago I've opened my own fiber art studio where I teach workshops on natural dyeing, weaving and kids' after school fiber arts. I also weave rugs from recycled materials. I embrace traditions and meld those ideas and methods with modern materials and skills. I'm committed to environmentally sustainable crafts and would like to share the joy of creating and making with you. I'm following all the cleaning and safety guidelines provided by the local authorities including face covers, cleanness and social distancing.
