This was a birthday gift for my wife. We've done cooking classes at other places before but this was by far our favorite. The instructors were excellent and fun to work with. The information was presented in an enjoyable way, and we learned a lot about making sushi and about rice and vegetables and proper knife handling. Everything was clean and well-prepared and ready for us. The communal dining situation, all of us at one long table, fostered a closeness with our fellow particpants. We got to know the other participants very well. All in all, it was an excellent experience and we would absolutely take another class with Red Inside Culinary.

This class was absolutely perfect for a bachelorette party activity. It provided the right mixture of hands-on/instruction/not having to do everything and we all had a great night. The meal was delicious and served family-style, which was ideal for our larger group, and turned out to be more food and wine than we could consume! Dona and Stefano were great instructors, patient and engaging with us. It was also really convenient to have the event pre-paid, where we did not have to worry about splitting up a dinner receipt for the group -- made life really easy! Would absolutely recommend this class to anyone - from a date night to a group of friends looking for something different to do. Worth every penny.

I attended the class with 7 of my greatest friends to enjoy a food tour through Italy with our instructing chef, Dona. Firstly, the venue was amazing It was intimate, quiet, and special! Especially loved the dining area. Dona was very attentive, funny, and knowledgeable. She was super nice! We stepped in to help the right amount - not too much, but still felt like we were responsible for the meal. Did this class for my birthday with a group of 16. Everyone had such an amazing time. The setting felt like we were in a real dining room/kitchen in someone's home in Italy. Both instructors were very helpful and entertaining. Food was absolutely delicious and we all learned so many helpful tips for the kitchen. Only thing I would suggest to make the experience even better would be to have little snacks/appetizers out while the class is happening because you don't actually get to sit down and eat until after 9 pm. Between the house wine and hard work in the kitchen, we all were pretty hungry by the time we actually got to eat what we prepared. Besides that, I would recommend this class to anyone looking for something fun and different to do with a group!

1. What was the teacher like?
For the most part, our teacher was great. I will say that Ivan had a tendency to be a bit condescending and rude at times. His instruction was very good, but he wasn't always pleasant about how he was communicating things. Specifically, we asked a question about if we were able to drink wine while we cooked as we noticed the other group was drinking wine. Ivan responded by saying you can do whatever you want and gestured to the other room without letting us know that we were free to service ourselves with the wine that was on the table. There were other comments made during the class that speak to this call out, but overall this is the main issue we had with the class. Other other chef and staff were very kind and welcoming!

2. How was the venue (if applicable)?
Venue was a little tight at times in the kitchen, but that is to be expected in NYC. The dining area was also a little tight as I assume the total number of people between the two parties put the space near capacity

3. If materials were provided, did you like them?
Yes, we enjoyed the materials.

4. Was the experience good value for money?
Yes, for the most part. One thing I would have liked to see is a protein to be included in one or more of the pastas (chicken, sausage, etc.)

5. What did you do / learn?
SO much! Our favorite part was learning to make the pastas and all that goes into preparing the dough before sculpting it

6. What did you like most?
The pasta making was the best part. So much fun to use the machines to sculpt the pastas

This was such a great experience! It was given to me as a gift, and I was able to choose my own class. I did knife techniques because this was my first class, and it seemed like a good idea to start with something that would help me on a daily basis. This was the right choice for me. Turns out I've been holding my knife wrong all this time, and I feel safer with a blade now. It will take some practice to un-learn the old way, but I'm excited that I now know how to hold the knife more safely and, with time, hopefully be able to cut more quickly and with less fatigue. The instructor was awesome (I am bad with names and I don't remember it). On top of the knife demonstration and instruction, he had all kinds of great cooking advise, and the meal we all made together was delicious. Please note, the only knife that is used is the chef's knife. I wish there was a little more instruction on other kinds of knives, but I didn't mind too much, since the chef's knife is my go-to 95% of the time.

Then, the cooking was super enjoyable. 2 hours learning how to do pasta from the scratch!

Dona was a kind and patient teacher. She explained everything step by step and was inclusive of beginner chefs in the class. The venue was so cute and intimate! The table was set up in a very aesthetically pleasing manor and the kitchen felt homey. I enjoyed learning how to make homemade dishes like the 3 different types of pasta, 3 sauces and apps/ dessert too! One of the best parts was the lovely group we met there! Such sweet people. Amazing class! We learned how to make miso soup, different sushi rolls, and ice cream. Our instructor Donna was very friendly, personable, and helpful! The venue has a cozy, beautifully decorated apartment feel. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. We would 100% recommend this to our family and friends! This was a so-so experience. We were hoping for a bit more hands on cooking but it was mainly prep and watching the chef. Our chef was also not the friendliest and it felt tough to ask questions. The place was also extremely cold, especially in the bathroom. Others in our group were warning us from the start to not go because it was so cold. Learned some valuable new things but overall wish we got more out of it.

Chef Nora provided a very helpful and fun class, she was very well instructed and provided great detail when going through our directions. We learned certain dicing techniques, how to mince and slice certain foods, how to properly hold a kitchen knife, and provided a delicious meal for everyone once our class has finished preparing the food.

Our chef, Nora, was a great instructor - very friendly and informative. The MacDougal Street kitchen setup was unique, cozy and accommodating. The experience was great value for the money. About a three hour hands-on session the covered basic cutting and cooking fundamentals for newbies with clear explanations behind the 'why' in terms of technique and approach. Learning the proper way to slice, dice, cube and prep and enjoying the fruits of our labor by eating what we made was a great way to spend 3 hours in the East Village.
