What you'll do

Create a personalized beer stein in this pottery workshop in San Francisco! Whether you're a potter looking to expand your skill set or a total newbie interested in exploring your creativity for the day, you can unwind and learn a new craft!

In this two-hour workshop, you will learn the ancient art of sgraffito. Sgraffito is a ceramic decoration technique where color is applied to the surface of a ceramic object, and patterns and designs are carved into it, revealing the color of the clay below. You will choose a raw ceramic beer stein, design your image on paper, and then apply underglaze and carve decorations onto your mug.

After the class, we will dry the mugs, glaze, and fire them. Mugs should be ready to pick up a few weeks after the workshop.
