What you'll do

Do you ever put a pen, pencil, or brush to paper or canvas and just see where your mind takes you by feeling your way through the exploration? That's what you'll do in this online painting lesson!

You will work with three colors, plus black and white, and paint various hues and mixed colors. You'll focus on straight lines and curves, or whatever comes out of you. You'll balance design elements, contrasting hues and sizes of shapes.

Your instructor will guide you through the process of creating your abstract painting, but you are welcome to listen to your creative instincts. This painting class is all about finding relaxation in creating your art projects. This is a great mindful hobby that will help you add some creativity and peace to your day.

What to bring

Bring creative tools of your choice: pencil, canvas and acrylics; watercolor paper and watercolors; or paper and colored pencils.

I love experimenting with color and form, to feel the movement of a line or brush, to see where it takes me or I feel like taking it. There's both an intuitive process, possibly habit, which isn't as fun as breaking habit and exploring and discovering a new motion or movement or color variation or combo, and thoughts to style or composition that encompass so much of the experience for me in creating art, particularly with abstracts. I would love to guide and teach others to tap into these modalities if they haven't already or if they want to delve in deeper, or have questions about color or anything else regarding abstracts in paint or color pencil or pen. I would also love to teach classes with figurative and landscape paintings with acrylics that don't rely heavily on realistic drawing or representation, but can be loosely composed through one's own personal and unique style and choices.
