Let your creativity flow and turn your ideas into reality in this jewelry-making class in Seattle! You'll choose between sterling silver or gold-filled jewelry and turn metal shapes into exquisite pendants or earrings. Your instructor, Emma, will demonstrate how to apply different textures and finishes to the metal blanks.

This class is beginner friendly, as your instructor will teach you all the steps about how to make metal smithed jewelry. You'll also have access to all the necessary supplies and tools, making it easy to learn a new skill and create your handmade jewelry!

Learn how to heat them up with the torch to make them soft enough to add a curve or dome to the shape, creating a bit of a 3D effect. Experience hands-on cutting with precision. Use a jeweler's saw or metal shears to bring out the shape in the metal you see in your mind. Use a riveting hammer to rivet and layer different metal blanks together, creating unique pendants or earrings.

Experience both the old-school and modern methods of heating up and securely closing metal together: using a torch for annealing the metal blanks and an electric welder for closing the jump rings. Master the craft of soldering jump rings using an electric welder. Watch the metal change colors as you heat it up with a torch to make it soft enough to change the shape.

A fun and informative introduction to the art of metalworking. Perfect for beginners or those familiar with metalsmithing.

Your teacher

Emma-Elizabeth Lila started Lila Logan Designs as a business name when she decided to begin her own jewelry and accessory design business. She initially registered the business name in California, using her middle name Lila and her grandfather's name Logan.

From the time she first registered the business name in California while still attending metalsmithing classes at a junior college, Emma has progressed to attending and graduating from The Gemological Institute Of America, also known as GIA, where she completed the Graduate Jeweler and Applied Jewelry Arts program.

After graduating from school, she embarked on world travels and lived in different countries for months at a time. She fell in love and married her best friend, Dustin, who happens to be the designer and developer behind the Lila Logan Jewelry Design Studio website.
Both of them have a passion for travel but have finally found a home in West Seattle, where they have fulfilled their lifelong dream of opening a Jewelry and Gift store. The store offers a wide variety of Handmade Gifts, Jewelry, Jewelry Repair, Beading, Metalsmithing Workshops, and a range of permanent bracelets.

When you visit Lila Logan Jewelry Design Studio, you will always have the opportunity to talk to Emma because she handles all aspects of the Jewelry services and workshops. Emma loves teaching, and when she demonstrates a new technique or answers a question, her enthusiasm shines through in her big smile and passionate words. She genuinely loves what she does, and her accommodating teaching style is influenced by her own background as someone diagnosed with dyslexia and an auditory processing deficit as a child. These challenges never dampened her love for art or her creative way of thinking, which is reflected in her unique jewelry designs.

There is a story behind nearly everything you can find at Lila Logan Jewelry Design Studio, whether it's made from recycled materials or a found object from Emma's travels. Everything is crafted in-house using the most eco-friendly materials available. If you're searching for a one-of-a-kind, eco-friendly piece of jewelry or a special gift, you'll find it at Lila Logan Jewelry Design Studio. Just ask, and Emma will be happy to share an inspiring story about how something was created.
