What you'll do

Explore your personal creativity and expression in this online drawing course! This is a one-on-one private drawing lesson that meets once a week with a professional artist and illustrator. The class is designed to be a place of support and instruction for students who want to learn skills and techniques for painting in acrylic.

The lessons are individualized based on your skill level and interests. Together, we can explore a variety of painting subjects such as landscapes, florals, still life, animals, figurative, or abstract.

Class structure:

5 minutes for check-in and slide presentation (art vocabulary, art techniques, photo reference)
50 minutes for sketching and drawing
5 minutes to share

Your instructor will set up a second camera view and draw alongside the student. Instruction is provided before you draw but also while you are working through the process. You may follow along in a step-by-step format but also make unique creative choices regarding shape, texture, etc. Your instructor will check in with the student 1-2 times per lesson and provide gentle feedback if requested. Sharing is encouraged but not required.

Drawing is fun and relaxing, and I strive to create a learning environment that is supportive and encouraging.

Hi my name is Molly Cranch and I am an artist, author-illustrator and arts educator based in Chicago, Illinois.

I have taught students ranging from age 3 to adulthood in a wide variety of settings including public and private schools, online and in art museums and art centers. I have taught a wide range of art media, however I love to teach 2D materials such as drawing, painting, collage, and bookmaking.

My teaching philosophy is relaxed, supportive and student-centered. I teach basic skills and techniques while allowing room for creative flow.
