Water Marbling Workshop

In this hands-on class in Austin, you'll discover the mesmerizing art of water marbling and create stunning patterns to take home as unique works of art. Marbling is an ancient mono-printing process that involves floating pigment on the surface of naturally thickened water to create dynamic patterns which can then be transferred onto paper, fabric or leather.

If you've ever wanted to learn how to create beautiful marbled designs, this workshop is perfect for you. Don't worry if you're new to marbling—your instructor, Mercedez will guide you every step of the way, alleviating any fears or uncertainties you may have.

During the class, you'll learn the fascinating history behind water marbling and gain insights into the techniques used by artists throughout the ages. Your instructor will demonstrate the basic tools and methods for manipulating paints on the water's surface, allowing you to witness the magic unfold before your eyes. You'll have your own marbling vat, where you'll experiment with various techniques and explore different color combinations on both paper and silk textiles.

  You will leave with six sheets of hand-marbled paper and two mini silk textiles (the silks work perfectly as a hair tie, purse accessory or pocket square!
  All materials are provided, but you might consider wearing clothes you don't mind getting a little paint on.
