Say yeast to bread! In this intro to breadmaking virtual workshop, learn how to make tasty white bread and sweet cinnamon rolls. This class is a chill, step-by-step guide to making yeast bread and is ideal for beginners or more advanced bakers who want to bake alongside others.

While this is not a gluten-free course, you will be able to select your own ingredients to meet your dietary needs or preferences. No professional equipment is needed, making it easy for beginner bakers to get started on their bread baking journey.

By the end of class, your kitchen will smell like a sweet bakery, and you'll have homemade baked goods to snack on or share with your friends and family. Not only will this class teach you new skills, such as how to make yeast bread, but you'll also get to spend some time in the kitchen challenging yourself and engaging in a hands-on and rewarding activity!

What to bring
Equipment:
  • Oven
  • Stove or hot plate
  • Saucepan
  • Fluid ounce measuring cup (only 1 cup needed)
  • Measuring cups
  • Tablespoon
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Wooden spoon
  • Clean cloth large enough to cover bowl
  • Butter knife
  • Baking pans: bread pan or other suitable for oven
  • Thermometer (optional)
  • Cutting board (optional)

Ingredients for bread:
  • 4 cups flour (bread or all-purpose preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 package) active dry or quick-rise yeast
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 fluid cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine or vegan butter

For cinnamon rolls:
  • Cinnamon (to taste)
  • Sugar (to taste)
  • Other spices (to taste)
  • About two tablespoons of butter
  • Cooking brush or knife for butter
  • Bread knife
  • Baking sheet or tin or pie pan

Optional cream cheese frosting:
  • 4 ounces baking cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter (1/2 stick)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Dash of salt
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • Mixing bowl
  • Wooden spoon
  • Pastry blender (optional) or a butter knife
  • Or forgo the spoon and pastry blender and use an electric hand mixer

Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 12 years old).

An adult must accompany any attending kids. The adult may observe at the class for free.
