3 hours Class size 4 to 20     label $70

If you're looking for unique experiences in the Bay Area, join this hands-on workshop that combines a relaxing tea ceremony with a grounding and creative ceramics class.

Jody Beavers from Tap Twice Tea will guide the group through each of the five categories of tea. You will prepare and taste an example of each as you learn how to taste the teas, how they are similar and unique, and how each type of tea is produced. You will also learn about the history of tea, its origins, how it came to be the second most consumed beverage in the world next to water. You will also learn about the tools to make tea, including why teaware is essential to the tea experience.

After learning about tea, we will transition to handbuilding basics with your ceramics teacher, Judy Fleming. You'll learn about how to work with clay and what to expect from the drying, glazing, and firing process. You will get a demonstration of how to make and decorate a tea cup or make a "tea pet" out of clay.

This is a great opportunity to unwind, learn something new, and take home handmade creations, all in one session. Whether you're looking for unique pottery classes or simply want to enjoy a day out in Oakland, this class will allow you to learn, relax, and create in a friendly environment.
